Utah water park chlorine spill causes evacuation, injuries

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A chlorine spill on Friday prompted a Utah water park to evacuate and caused multiple injuries, including the hospitalization of one person.

The spill was found when a Seven Peaks water park patron called 911 coughing and saying they were having difficulty breathing.

Provo Fire and Rescue Capt. Dean York says first responders then detected a chlorine leak at the park and it was immediately evacuated.

Some patrons were ushered out before they were able to grab their belongings, but were allowed back in later to retrieve their belongings.

York says one child was taken to the hospital by ambulance and 11 others reported symptoms, but declined medical transport.
