SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah man is pleading guilty in the shooting deaths of a teenage brother and sister in a fight that started over a shirt.

The pleas to two counts of aggravated murder mean that 28-year-old Mario Cervantes-Angel won’t face the death penalty in the shootings that happened after a fight broke out at an apartment complex.

He’ll face 25 years to life on each count at a sentencing hearing set for Sept. 1.

Prosecutors say it started after he and three others showed up to confront 15-year-old Abril Izazaga about a T-shirt in July 2016.

Charging documents say Cervantes-Angel slammed the girl against a brick wall and her 16-year-old brother Jose Izazaga came out with a knife to defend her.

Police say Cervantes-Angel responded by shooting both teenagers.
