On Oct. 4 the Piute County School District announced that the district is going to switch to online learning for the next two weeks due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases. Digital instruction will begin Oct. 5 and in person learning will resume on Oct. 21.
According to the letter sent out by the district, the transition is due to a few more cases in the district causing more and more students, faculty and staff to quarantine. According to the statement, fewer than five students have tested positive at Piute High School, however more than 60 students have been quarantined due to the positive cases along with some teachers and staff.
Piute High baseball and cross country practices and matches will continue under Utah High School Activities Association guidelines, and the volleyball team will resume practice Oct. 12. School meals will continue to be provided as grab-and-go meals.
