Piute High School student, 16-year-old Parker Thompson is being mourned today following his death on Saturday.

Thompson passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident above Glenwood. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nate Curtis, Thompson was wearing a helmet, but had not buckled it.

“The kid was a good rider, just over-shot the turn and hit a ravine,” Curtis says. “Just one of those unfortunate accidents.”

A candlelight vigil will be held on his behalf Monday night at 8:30 pm on the South lawn. Students, Parents and community members are invited.

Piute School District will be providing counseling services as needed for studnts and staff members as they deal with this loss.

Funeral services are pending for the Circleville LDS ward chapel.
