SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The hotly contested race for the GOP nomination in the Utah governor’s race is showcasing conservative fault lines over the coronavirus crisis response. The four-way June 30 vote will be a test of whether the state leaders’ approach to the pandemic embodied by Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox can withstand criticism from the right by former House Speaker Greg Hughes and businessman Thomas Wright, and whether former Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. can capture voters’ attention as both a pandemic and historic national protests over police brutality play out nationwide.
