SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News)-Per an official press release issued by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, missionaries in two southern California missions are currently being reassigned because of wildfires in the region.
In a report from ABC 4 News in Salt Lake City Sunday morning, the LDS Church reported roughly 45 missionaries serving in the California Arcadia and California Ventura missions of the Church have been forced to evacuate because of the conditions caused by the wildfires.
For the time being, the missionaries in question have been reassigned to other areas to proselyte.
The mission president of the California Ventura Mission and his wife were also forced to evacuate.
The Salt Lake City-based faith also reports several Church buildings in the area have suffered minor smoke damage but otherwise, nothing serious has occurred.
Other LDS Church buildings in the area are being used as temporary community centers to assist in relief efforts.
