Associated Press (AP) — Six candidates vying for the GOP nomination in the Utah governor’s race are expected to meet for their first debate on Friday. The debate is part of the Silicon Slopes Tech Summit, a conference for the state’s burgeoning tech sector. The candidates range from a former U.S. ambassador hoping to return to Utah to a county elected official who wants to become the state’s second ever female governor. They are: Former U.S. ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman Jr., current Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, ex-Republican Party Chair Thomas Wright, businessman Jeff Burningham, Salt Lake County Council memberAimee Winder Newton and ex-House Speaker Greg Hughes.
