Grandson’s pitch coaxes Redford out of retirement, briefly

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — Robert Redford has been coaxed briefly out of acting retirement by his grandson in a film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. “Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia” is a movie directed by 15 filmmakers, including 28-year-old Dylan Redford. He asked the 83-year-old Redford to voice a dolphin named Lokia in the movie. In an interview, Redford jokes “at least I’m not a whale.” The elder Redford says he’s enjoying retirement and spending more time sketching. This year’s Sundance was the first in decades that wasn’t kicked off with a press conference with Redford, and he says he’s content to recede as the face of the festival.
