(Iron County, UT) — For the first time in more than a decade and a half this fall, Iron County will have a new sheriff.

Mark Gower announced on his Facebook page yesterday that he would not be seeking reelection for the position this fall.

Gower said in a letter that he wants someone with fresh eyes to take the reins and plans on spending more time with his family.

Gower has worked for the department for over a quarter century as a deputy and as the sheriff.
