The Washington County Republican Party is choosing Travis Seegmiller to join the Utah House of Representatives as a replacement for Jon Stanard.

Seegmiller is an attorney and associate professor of law and economics at Dixie State University. He wan an eight-way race Monday to fill the newly-opened position in Utah’s House District 62.

Standard resigned last week ahead of a report of him paying a prostitute for sex while staying in Salt Lake City.

Seegmiller was picked to serve out the remainder of Stanard’s term, which runs through the end of this year.
