FARMINGTON, Utah-Tuesday, the various all-Big Sky Conference teams were announced by the league office, with Southern Utah and Weber State each healthily represented on the rosters.
The offensive player of the year was Sacramento State quarterback Kevin Thomson who completes 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,910 yards, 25 TD’s and 8 interceptions.
The co-defensive players of the year are Weber State senior defensive end Jonah Williams (6.5 sacks, 9 tackles for a loss) and Montana redshirt senior linebacker Dante Olson (2.5 sacks, interception, forced fumble, 9.5 tackles for a loss).
The newcomer of the year is Montana sophomore tailback Marcus Knight (1,169 all-purpose yards, 21 total touchdowns).
The freshman of the year is UC Davis linebacker Nick Eaton (6.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 12 tackles for a loss).
Making the first team offense was Weber State sophomore tailback Josh Davis (155 car, 1,015 yards, 10 TD’s) Southern Utah senior offensive lineman Zach Larsen, Weber State junior offensive lineman Ty Whitworth, Weber State junior fullback Clay Moss (13 touches, 84 scrimmage yards).
The first team defense featured former Manti High star, Weber State junior defensive tackle Jared Schiess (2.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for a loss) and Jonah Williams.
The second-team offense features Weber State junior kicker Trey Tuttle (20-24 on field goal attempts; 38-41 on PAT attempts).
Making the second team defense was Weber State senior defensive end Adam Rodriguez (5.5 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss) and senior outside linebacker Auston Tesch (1 sack, 4 pass breakups, 6.5 tackles for a loss).
Weber State redshirt freshman defensive back Eddie Heckard (2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 2 sacks, 4.5 tackles for a loss) and senior punter Doug Lloyd (43.1 yards per punt) also made the second team for the Wildcats.
On the third team offense were Weber State junior tailback Kevin Smith (144 car, 599 yards, 2 TD’s), Southern Utah sophomore offensive lineman Braxton Jones, Weber State junior offensive line Ben Bos and Southern Utah junior kick returner Judd Cockett (38 kickoff returns, 753 yards, 19.8 yards per return).
Making the third team defense were Weber State sophomore defensive end George Tarlas (8 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, three pass breakups) Weber State junior defensive back Preston Smith (6.5 tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, one interception, four pass breakups, one fumble return) and Southern Utah redshirt freshman corner-back Carlton Johnson (3 interceptions, 4 pass breakups).
Achieving honorable mention status were Southern Utah sophomore receiver Lance Lawson (78 rec, 735 yards, 3 TD’s) and his teammates, redshirt junior linebacker Alex Sims (5.5 tackles for a loss, four pass breakups, one fumble return) and redshirt sophomore AJ Stanley (2.5 tackles for a loss, 2 pass breakups, one forced fumble).
