RICHFIELD, Utah-March Madness officially arrived at the 1-A state tournament in the girls quarterfinals Thursday morning at the Sevier Valley Center. Milford’s Jaycee Rose made a free throw with 4.2 seconds left to lift the Tigers to a 54-53 win over Piute. Mickell Morgan (28 points, 10 of 16 shooting) missed a last-gasp free throw attempt as time expired to help Milford preserve the victory. Elena Yee had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Tigers, who next play in the 5:30 pm semifinals Friday at the SVC. Piute will play in the 11:30 am “second-day loss” bracket at the SVC Friday morning.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Kapri Orton posted 19 points on 6-10 shooting as the Panguitch Bobcats routed Wendover 65-21 in the 1-A state quarterfinals Thursday. The Bobcats next play in the 4:00 pm semifinals Friday.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Kierra Groll posted 19 points and made 8-10 free throws, including several clutch ones in the 4th Quarter as the Rich Rebels outlasted Wayne 56-48 Thursday in the 1-A state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Brynnli Nelson had 18 points in the loss for the Badgers. Rich will face Panguitch Friday at 4:00 pm in the semifinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Wayne will play Wendover in the second-day loss bracket Friday at 10:00 am at the Sevier Valley Center.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Whitnee Spencer posted 14 points as the Valley Buffaloes waxed West Ridge 65-20 in the 1-A state consolation bracket Thursday at Richfield High School. Valley next faces Monticello Friday at 11:30 am in the consolation bracket semifinals at Richfield High School.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Bryce Valley’s girls downed Tintic 38-24 Thursday in the 1-A consolation bracket at Richfield High School Thursday. The Mustangs are next in action Friday at 10:00 am in the consolation bracket semifinals at Richfield High School.

RICHFIELD, Utah-The madness ensued as the afternoon progressed Thursday as Beau Sylvester finished with 15 points, including a pair of clutch free throws with .5 seconds left as Piute edged Valley 39-38 Thursday in the 1-A quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Cameron Franklin had 14 points and 9 rebounds on 6-11 shooting in the loss for the Buffaloes. Piute advances to Friday’s semifinals at 8:30 pm. Valley will play in the second day-loss bracket Friday at 2:30 pm. Both of these games are on the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Acey Orton netted 15 points and 8 rebounds on 7-11 shooting while Kanyon Lamb added 13 points and 7 boards on 5-6 from the field as the Panguitch Bobcats dismantled Tintic 51-30 in the 1-A state quarterfinals Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center.
Curtis Evans had 7 points and 5 rebounds on 3-3 shooting in the loss for the Miners. Panguitch next faces Piute Friday at 8:30 pm in the state semifinals.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Austyn Brinkerhoff and Tate Leech each posted 15 points and 6 rebounds as the quick-striking Bryce Valley Mustangs got past Wendover 63-56 in the 1-A state quartefinals Thursday night at the Sevier Valley Center. Brayan Mendoza had 16 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for the Wildcats. Bryce Valley next plays in the 7:00 pm semifinals Friday evening, also at the Sevier Valley Center.
