SALT LAKE CITY-Dixie State junior forward/center Hunter Schofield netted 20 points and 6 rebounds as the Dixie State Trailblazers got past Texas A&M-Commerce 71-66 at the 2019 D2 Conference Challenge at Behnken Fieldhouse on the campus of Westminster College Friday.
Program newcomer, freshman forward Frank Staine, added 17 points for Jon Judkins’ squad, who improved to 1-0 after this season opener.
Deon Barrett amassed 19 points and Deonta Terrell added 18 points on 7-13 from the field for the Lions in the loss.
The Trailblazers return to action at the D2 Conference Challenge Saturday at Westminster by facing the Texas-Tyler Patriots.
This will be the fourth time on the young season the Patriots will have faced a Beehive State school. Texas-Tyler has already squared off against Utah, BYU and Westminster headed into Saturday’s game.
