PROVO, Utah-Saturday afternoon, BYU men’s basketball hosts San Diego State at the Marriott Center with the former Mountain West Conference and WAC rivals reconvening in a traditional rivalry game.
The Cougars are coming off of a 76-58 win over Cal State Fullerton Tuesday and the Aztecs are also coming off a Tuesday win as they routed Texas Southern 77-42.
Arizona transfer Alex Barcello posted 17 points on 7-9 shooting for the Cougars Tuesday, with TJ Haws also posting 17 points on 7-12 from the field.
San Diego State was led by junior guards Malachi Flynn and Jordan Schakel (15 points apiece) Tuesday as the Aztecs built a 42-18 lead at the half over the Southwestern Athletic Conference-affiliated Tigers.
The Aztecs are coached by Brian Dutcher who is 44-24 (.647) in his third season at San Diego State, after taking over for Steve Fisher.
The Cougars lead the Aztecs 48-25 all-time and are 29-3 all-time against San Diego State at home.
