Duchesne County schools have an increased presence from law enforcement after an alleged school threat on social media.
According to authorities, district officials were made aware of an alleged threat to Union high school early on the morning of Oct. 16 that was made by one of the students on social media.
The student said in a Snapchat that was sent to many other students on the campus, “attention I just want to say that I have been bullied by students at Roosevelt High School for too long. I am a junior and I’m tired of it so on October 16th at 9:27 I will proceed to shoot Roosevelt High School up with my ar-15. I have been bullied long enough please don’t come to school.”
District officials were unable to verify the credibility of the threat, but in a Facebook post by the district they said they are taking the threat seriously.
As a precaution there will be more law enforcement at Union High School as well as at Roosevelt Junior High School.
According to the districts Facebook post none of the schools in the district are on lockdown.
