EPHRAIM, Utah-The No. 6 Snow College women’s volleyball team took down Southern Idaho on Saturday, 3-0, marking the first victory over the Eagles since 2013. This is the first three-game victory against CSI for the Badgers since October 20, 2006.
With the win, the Badgers improve to 22-2 on the season, including a record of 3-0 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Snow outlasted Southern Idaho in the first set, earning a 25-21 victory. In the second set, the Badgers hit .300 on the way to a 25-18 victory. In the final set of the match, Snow hit a blistering .325 to upend the Eagles, 25-17.
Freshman Korrin Thornock led the Badger offense, racking up a match-high 12 kills. Thornock, a native of Spanish Fork, Utah, hit .478, connecting on 12-of-23 attempts with just one hitting error. Thornock was also credited with four digs and three blocks.
Saturday’s game marks the 10th game this season Thornock has had 10 or more kills in a match, and marks the eighth time she has eclipsed the .300 mark.
Outside hitters Andreanna McKee and Sarah Morley combined for 10 kills, while middles Lydia Montague and Marcie Stapley had five kills each. Freshman Camden Strain added four kills. Setters Ellee Anderson and Tessa Robert combined for 32 assists. Sophomore libero Savannah Tanner was credited with 13 digs.
The Badgers next travel to Rangely, Colo., to take on Colorado Northwestern on Thursday evening, October 10. Match-time is slated for 7: 00 pm
