Football

2-A South

FILLMORE, Utah-Gage Griffiths ran for a career-high 151 yards and a score on 23 carries as the Milford Tigers got past Millard 37-29 in 2-A South football action. The resilient Eagles virtually matched the Tigers point for point with a key interception from Brooks Myers (13-26, 146 yards, 3 TD’s/INT) by Casek Hardy on a short field tipping the scales in Milford’s favor. This resulted in a one-yard touchdown run by Bryson Barnes to give the Tigers a 35-21 lead in the 3rd Quarter.

Barnes (11-20, 219 yards, 2 TD’s; 27 car, 7o yards, 2 TD’s) was spectacular on the evening, with Bret Beebe (6 rec, 168 yards, 2 TD’s) serving as his primary target on the night.

Despite the Tigers out-gaining Millard, 440-186, the Eagles resolutely hung around all night, primarily capitalizing on short fields for their scoring drives.

Sam Marshall (6 rec, 69 yards, 2 TD’s; a 60-yard kickoff return for a score via a pitch from Kael Myers), was also solid in defeat for the Eagles.

Milford improved to 7-1 and 3-1 in 2-A South play, while Millard fell to 7-1 and 3-1 in 2-A South play.

The Eagles will have another tough test next Friday as they host the 2-A South leading Beaver Beavers.

Milford continues 2-A South play next Friday as well as they host the Parowan Rams.

BEAVER, Utah-EJ Allred had scoring runs of 47, 25, 2 and 2 yards as the Beaver Beavers ran roughshod over Kanab 51-14 Friday in 2-A South football action. Kaleb Barney, Crayton Hollingshead and Ryker Albrecht also had touchdown runs for Beaver and Tyson Bartlett added a 36-yard field goal for the Beavers. Sam Orton had scoring passes of 25 yards to Clay Shakespear and 5 yards to Trey Chatterley in the loss for the Cowboys.

PAROWAN, Utah-Hutch Miller threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Nicolas Goodman and had a 17-yard scoring run as the Parowan Rams smacked North Sevier 40-12 in 2-A South football action Friday. Easton Jense, Levi Saylor and Grayson Robb each had touchdown runs as well in the rout for the Rams. Taylor Crane had touchdown passes to Benjamin Chamberlain (42 yards) and Aaron Gale (33 yards) in defeat for the Wolves.

Region 12

BLANDING, Utah-Shaw Nielson threw scoring passes to Randall Flavel (7 yards) and Porter Ivins (5 yards) and the San Juan Broncos clobbered Richfield 42-17 Friday in Region 12 football action. Kian Conway also added a pair of 20-yard touchdown runs in the rout for the Broncos. Brittyn Riddle had touchdown runs of 12 and 5 yards for the Wildcats and Kordell Morgan added a 30-yard field goal in defeat for Richfield.

MONROE, Utah-Noah Ramsay threw three touchdown passes, including two strikes to Cooper Hessey of 45 and 16 yards, as the South Sevier Rams outlasted Emery 21-20, earning their first win of the season in Region 12 football action Friday. Karson Hunt hauled in Ramsay’s other touchdown pass, from 10 yards out for the Rams. The Rams stopped the Spartans on a 2-point conversion attempt in the closing seconds to pull out the victory.

Region 14

NEPHI, Utah-Cade Bowring threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Zac Cowan on a trick play and added  touchdown runs of 36 and 5 yards as the Juab Wasps pounded American Leadership 43-7 Friday in Region 14 football action. Cowan added a 5-yard touchdown run with Shan Jackson and Grant Orme also adding scoring runs for the Wasps in the rout.

MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Landon Bowles threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Payton Clawson, while Clawson added a 1-yard touchdown run as the North Sanpete Hawks doubled up Manti 28-14 in Region 14 football action Friday. Connor Jorgensen added a 34-yard touchdown run and Cole Mickell returned an interception for a score in the win for the Hawks. Jax Parry and Karson Parry each had a touchdown pass in the loss for the Templars.

DELTA, Utah-Austin Topham threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tate Willoughby and ran for another score as the Delta Rabbits pounded Union 37-27 Friday in Region 14 football action. Will Finlinson added an 80-yard touchdown run in the win for Delta.

Non-Region

GUNNISON, Utah-Kolby Olsen surpassed 200 rushing yards and added scoring runs of 85 and 30 yards as the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs had a successful Senior Day in besting the Providence Hall JV Patriots 14-12 Friday in non-region football action.

Volleyball

Region 12

BLANDING, Utah-The San Juan Broncos smacked Richfield 3-1 in Region 12 volleyball action Friday. The Broncos prevailed 25-17, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-18.

Non-Region

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah-North Sanpete went 2-1 on day one of the Claim Jumper volleyball tournament hosted by Bingham Friday. The Hawks beat Rigby, Idaho and Cedar Valley each 2-0, with a loss to Bingham 2-0 in between.

Baseball

1A 1st Round

SPANISH FORK, Utah-The Green River Pirates pulled away from Bryce Valley with nine runs in the fourth inning the earn the 12-2 run rule victory in the first round of the 1A state tournament Friday. Dallin Wegleitner and Ethan Willis each doubled in the loss for the Mustangs. Green River now plays Panguitch in the second round.

Volleyball

Region 12

MOAB, Utah-The Richfield Wildcats won a thriller over Grand County, 3-2 Saturday in Region 12 volleyball action. The Wildcats dropped the first two sets, 25-27, 26-28 before winning the last three, 25-21, 30-28, 15-10.

Non-Region

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah-North Sanpete went 1-2 Saturday at the Claim Jumper volleyball tournament hosted by Bingham. The Hawks lost to Farmington 2-0 and Eagle, Idaho 2-0, with a win over Green Canyon 2-1 in between.

Baseball

SPANISH FORK, Utah-The Panguitch Bobcats recorded 14 hits en route to a 7-2 win over Green River in the second round of the 1A Baseball State Tournament Saturday. Cord Pfander doubled in the loss for the Pirates. Panguitch now plays Valley in the quarterfinals of the tournament Tuesday at 11:45 at Nelson Field in Spanish Fork.

SPANISH FORK, Utah-The Piute Thunderbirds dominated Pinnacle in the second round of the 1A Baseball State Tournament Saturday with a 16-2 win. Stetson Motte doubled in the loss for Pinnacle. Piute advances to play Diamond Ranch in the quarterfinals of the tournament Tuesday at 2:00 at Nelson Field in Spanish Fork.
