PROVO, Utah-Tuesday, BYU baseball (17-5, 4-2 in West Coast Conference play) leaves conference play by hosting the Pac-12’s Oregon Ducks (12-9, 2-4 in conference play) at Miller Park.
Getting the nod for the Cougars on the mound is redshirt freshman right-hander Ryan Brady.
This will be Brady’s second appearance of the year after he made his initial return March 19 at Utah Valley, a 14-13 victory for the Cougars.
The Cougars’ 17-5 record is their third-best mark through 22 games in program history. They started 20-2 in 2016 and 18-4 in 1980.
The streaking Cougars have won their last four and 11 of 13.
BYU’s leader in batting average with the most reps is senior infielder Brian Hsu (.380).
Sophomore infielder Jackson Cluff has been the Cougars’ most productive hitter, netting 26 RBI and two home runs. Senior outfielder Brock Hale leads BYU in home runs with 3.
Junior first baseman Gabe Matthews (.370 batting average, 27 hits, 13 RBI, 2 home runs) is the Ducks’ offensive statistical leader in every conceivable category.
Freshman right-handed pitcher Keaton Chase leads the Ducks in both ERA (2.57) and record (2-0).
Oregon leads the all-time series against BYU 6-3, with the Ducks downing the Cougars 9-6 last season.
