PROVO – Utah baseball won its third game in a row 10-6 over the Niagara Purple Eagles on Monday, March 11.
After a weekend of battling bad weather, the Utes and Purple Eagles finally squared off down in Provo, Utah at Miller Park on BYU’s campus.
Utah scored at least one run in six straight innings powered by another big day at the plate from Zack Moeller, who went 3-4 with three RBI and scored three more runs.
Joshua Tedeschi got the win for the Utes only giving up one run in 5.0 innings.
After both teams went scoreless in the first two innings, Niagara grabbed the lead in the third, but it didn’t last for long. After Matt Richardson doubled, Moeller got his first RBI of the day with a double down the third base line.
Utah took the lead when Dominic Foscalina stole second and the throw from the catcher went into center field and got behind the center fielder allowing him to come around from second to score.
The Utes kept scoring, stretching out their lead and pushing 10 across for the game. They have scored double-digit runs in four of the last five games.
Four Utah players had two RBI in the game as Briley Knight, Rykker Tom and Shea Kramer all joined Moeller batting multiple runs in.
Utah will be back on the field on Tuesday, March 11 at Smith’s Ballpark against Gonzaga starting at 2 p.m. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Network.
