Region 15 Cross Country Roundup

MOAB, Utah-Tuesday, Grand County High School hosted the Region 15 cross country championships at the Moab Golf Club of Moab.

For the girls, the host Red Devils took the team title with a score of 38. Richfield’s girls placed second with a score of 47. North Sanpete’s girls finished fifth with a score of 123, Manti finished sixth with a score of 124 and South Sevier placed seventh, posting a score of 202.

Individually, Richfield’s Jamie Holt was the best finisher for the girls among the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network school competitors, finishing fourth in a time of 20:30.90. Richfield’s Avery Foster finished seventh in a time of 20:43.70 and Fiel Woods of Manti placed tenth in a time of 20:50.30.

North Sanpete’s best girls’ competitor was Linzy Flinders, who placed 15th in a time of 21:56.90.

For South Sevier, the Rams’ best girls’ competitor was Lainey Obray, who finished 30th, posting a time of 23:30.60.

For the boys, Emery took the team title as the Spartans netted 48 points. North Sanpete was second, posting 59 points and Richfield was third with 64 points. Manti finished fifth with 132 points and South Sevier finished seventh, posting 192 points.

As was expected, Richfield’s Hayden Harward took the boys’ individual title in Region 15, posting a time of 15:59.80.

His teammate, Nick Woolsey, finished fifth overall, in a time of 16:43.30. The aptly-named Orange Peel of North Sanpete finished sixth in a time of 16:52.10.

North Sanpete’s Matt Hindes finished ninth overall in a time of 17:07.80 and his teammate, Gage Cox, placed 12th in a time of 17:33.60.

Manti’s best boys competitor was Sam Cox, who placed 13th overall in a time of 17:48.60. For Souh Sevier, the Rams’ best boys’ competitor was Blake Vellinga, who finished 27th and posted a time of 18:35.50.

The state championship meet will be October 17 at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City.
