Micah Simon Named To Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List

TYLER, Texas-Tuesday, BYU wide receiver Micah Simon was one of 47 players named to the sixth-annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list.

This award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I-A (FBS) college football who “exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell.”

These traits consist of integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity. Campbell, a former tailback at Texas and later a Pro Football Hall of Famer with the NFL’s Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints, was the 1977 Heisman trophy winner as a senior for the Longhorns.

Simon, a redshirt junior out of Dallas, posted 27 catches for 386 yards and three scores in 2017.

Simon is the only collegian representing a university in Utah to be nominated for this award.

In November, the watch list will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists and to five finalists in December.
