(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Bureau of Land Management has imposed new fire restrictions across much of northern and western Utah due to increasing fire danger. The restrictions took effect immediately on BLM-managed lands in 12 counties, including Box Elder, Cache, Juab, Millard, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, Summit, Tooele, Utah, Wasatch, and Weber counties. Officials have prohibited the use of steel-core ammunition, steel targets, sky lanterns and similar devices that could spark fires. Off-highway vehicles must also be equipped with approved spark arrestors. The restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
