(Salt Lake City, UT) — A higher wildfire risk will probably lead to more power outages. That’s the word from Rocky Mountain Power. They say electricity outages will likely be more frequent and will often last longer. A low snowpack, dry conditions and high winds are creating a dangerous mix that’s already sparking new wildfires. The utility says power customers across Utah should prepare for some outages without notice. That’s because advanced transmission lines can shut off power in a split second in order to avoid a potential disaster.
