Boys Basketball

1A State Tournament @ Bruins Arena (SLCC)

State Championship Game

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Ridge Lundgren netted 22 points and 8 rebounds on 9/17 from the floor and the No. 1 Rich Rebels overpowered No. 6 Bryce Valley 69-56 to win the 1A state boys basketball championship Saturday night at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College Taylorsville Redwood. Rustyn Chynoweth posted 17 points and 5 rebounds on 6/11 from the floor and 5/7 behind the arc in the loss for the Mustangs. This was Rich’s second all-time state championship in boys basketball and first since 2015.

3rd-4th Place Game

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Blake Peterson recorded 18 points and Hunter Robins added 17 points and 8 rebounds on 7/14 from the floor and 2/2 from range as the No. 2 Wayne Badgers dismantled No. 4 Panguitch 62-41 Saturday to place third in the 1A state boys basketball tournament at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College Taylorsville Redwood. Traiger Ramsay netted 15 points and 7 rebounds on 5/10 from the floor in defeat for the Bobcats.

5th-6th Place Game

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Kolton Myers posted 22 points and 6 rebounds on 9/18 from the floor and the No. 3 Piute Thunderbirds overpowered No. 4 Manila 68-50 to place 5th at the 1A state boys basketball tournament Saturday at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College Taylorsville Redwood. Hudson Bair scored 12 points for the Mustangs in the loss.

Girls Basketball

State Championship Game

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Joy Gines recorded 13 points on 8/9 at the foul line and the No. 3 Tabiona Tigers outlasted the No. 2 Rich Rebels 45-41 to win the 1A state championship Saturday at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College Taylorsville Redwood. Laci McKinnon netted 12 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Rebels. This was Tabiona’s second all-time state title in girls basketball and breaks a 19-year drought. The Tigers have state championships in girls basketball in 2007 and 2026.

3rd-4th Place Game

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Makena Owens netted 14 points and the No. 1 Panguitch Bobcats got past No. 2 Wayne 47-44 to place third at the 1A state girls basketball tournament Saturday at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College Taylorsville Redwood. AJ VanDyke’s 14 points led the Badgers in the loss before departing the game in the 4th Quarter with an injury. She did not return to play.

5th-6th Place Game

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Keiarra Martin’s 13 points led the way and the No. 6 Whitehorse Raiders overpowered No. 9 Wendover 38-30 to achieve 5th place at the 1A state girls basketball tournament Saturday at Bruins Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College Taylorsville Redwood. Millie Hicks netted 12 points and 26 rebounds in the loss for the Wildcats.
