(Undated) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox is taking playful jabs at Notre Dame for opting out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl set for later this month. Notre Dame and BYU were reportedly invited to face off in the bowl game, but the Fighting Irish passed on the opportunity after it was not selected to compete in the College Football Playoff. Governor Cox teased in a post on X that Notre Dame’s decision “is absolutely the right move,” and added, “much smarter to avoid playing tough teams so you can keep your brand intact.” After withdrawing from bowl consideration, Notre Dame said it looks forward to chasing a national title next season.
