3A State Quarterfinals

MANTI, Utah-Taylie Mickelsen, McKinzee Chidester and Madelyn Bridges each scored and the No. 3 Manti Templars bested No. 6 Richfield 3-1 in the 3A state quarterfinals Saturday. Claire Hulet scored in the loss for the Wildcats. Manti next faces No. 2 Carbon Thursday at 4:30 pm at Zions Bank Stadium in the state semifinals.

PRICE, Utah-Malia Smith scored the sole goal and the No. 2 Carbon Dinos downed No. 10 Logan 1-0 Saturday in the 3A state quarterfinals.

GRANTSVILLE, Utah-Lindsey Wangsgard and Kamry Allen each scored and the No. 4 Grantsville Lady Cowboys doubled up No. 5 Canyon View 2-1 in the 3A state quarterfinals Saturday. Grantsville next faces No. 1 Ogden Thursday at 2:00 pm at the state semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium.

OGDEN, Utah-Elle Weston’s hat trick led the way and the No. 1 Ogden Tigers pummeled No. 9 Morgan 8-1 in the 3A state quarterfinals Saturday. Monea Whimpey scored in the loss for the Trojans.

2A State Quarterfinals

LINDON, Utah-Tess Jorgensen scored and the No. 4 Maeser Prep Lions blanked No. 5 Rowland Hall 1-0 Saturday in the 2A state quarterfinals. The Lions next face No. 1 Waterford Thursday at 9:00 am in the state semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium.

OGDEN, Utah-The No. 2 St. Joseph Jayhawks overpowered No. 7 Grand 5-1 in the 2A state quarterfinals Saturday. Gemma Phillips scored in the loss for the Red Devils. St. Joseph next faces No. 3 American Heritage Thursday at 11:30 am in the state semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium.

AMERICAN FORK, Utah-Ada Werner, Phoebe Shepherd and Olivia Knecht each scored and the No. 3 American Heritage Patriots downed No. 6 ALA 3-0 Saturday in the 2A state quarterfinals. Brinley Hall recorded the shutout in the net in victory for the Patriots.

Girls Volleyball

Tournament Play

Monument Valley overpowered Escalante 3-1 to prevail in girls volleyball tournament play Saturday. The Cougars got past the Moquis 27-26, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16. Alison Holcomb and Taylie Carlisle netted six kills apiece in the loss for the Moquis.

Alison Holcomb, Taylie Carlisle and Fanny Orvin recorded five kills apiece and the Escalante Moquis drilled Green River 3-0 Saturday in girls volleyball tournament play. The Moquis overpowered the Pirates 25-19, 25-20, 25-11 to prevail in straight sets.
