Monday, BYU freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week as the Cougars defeated Colorado 24-21 last Saturday evening at Folsom Field.
Bachmeier completed 19 of 27 passes for 179 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Additionally, he ran for 98 yards on 15 carries (6.5 yards per tote).
The 6-2 220-pound native of Murrieta, Calif. became the first true freshman signal-caller to ever start a season-opener for the Cougars earlier this season against Portland State.
Through four games, Bachmeier has completed nearly 68 percent of his passes for 697 yards, 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
The Cougars host West Virginia this Friday evening as the Big 12 season ensues for both squads.
