CEDAR CITY, Utah-Tuesday, Southern Utah star senior tailback Targhee Lambson was named as a semifinalist for the 2024 Walter Payton Award.
This honors the most outstanding offensive player in Division I FCS football.
Lambson, a former Snow College star out of Timpview High School and Spanish Fork, Utah, led the nation with 1,922 rushing yards and ranked second nationally in touchdowns with 23 rushing scores.
This season, Lambson’s carries (320), rushing yards (1,922) and net points scored in a single season (142) are all program records.
Past winners of the Walter Payton Award include Steve McNair (Alcorn State), Tony Romo (Eastern Illinois), Brian Westbrook (Villanova), Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois), Cooper Kupp (Eastern Washington) and Trey Lance (North Dakota State).
The winner of this award will be announced January 4, 2025 at the STATS Perform FCS National Awards Banquet of Frisco, Texas.
