Just before 9:30 a.m. July 27, a semi truck hauling a large, 77,000 lb., lithium battery tipped over while making a left turn into Flying J in Richfield. According to a post to the Richfield City Police Facebook page, “due to the extreme fire hazard, the immediate area was blocked off until it could be uprighted and moved off the roadway.” It took about four and a half hours to remove the battery and Main Street reopened around 2:00 p.m. Flying J Dr. was partially closed until a trailer could be brought in to haul the batter out.
