LOGAN, Utah-Saturday afternoon, Utah State football player Andre Seldon Jr. was found dead after diving from cliffs at Porcupine Reservoir and did not resurface per a news release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
Seldon Jr.’s body was found at 9:05 pm by the Utah Department of Public Safety Dive Team.
Seldon Jr. had joined the Aggies’ program this summer.
He previously played at New Mexico State and Michigan. Last season at New Mexico State, Seldon posted an interception, a forced fumble and seven passes defensed.
Seldon was a native of Belleville, Mich.
USU is working to ensure both athletics staff and student-athletes have emotional and mental support as they process and grieve. Students affected by the death may seek mental and emotional support from the university’s CARE office and Counseling and Psychological Services are offering student support. Athletics staff and student-athletes will receive more information about how to access resources.
