A trial date has finally been set for a man who allegedly took a child bride, almost six years after the event took place.  Robert Roe, of California, has been charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child after he spent the night with the 5-year-old girl.  Roe met John Coltharp and Samuel Shaffer, members of Knights of the Crystal Blade, a doomsday cult based in Spring City, and was given one of the men’s daughters as a child bride in August 2017.   Charges were filed in June 2018, but setting a trial date has been delayed due to Covid and lack of space on the court calendar.  A two-week trial is now scheduled to begin January 13, 2025.
