Per Wednesday news, Snow College is adding men’s and women’s cross country and a junior varsity football program to its athletic department.
These sports will officially go into effect for the Fall 2024 season.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams will be based on the Richfield campus and the JV football program will use the existing resources at the Ephraim campus.
Members of the Snow College Strategic Enrollment Committee found the addition of more athletic programs could enhance both the Richfield and Ephraim campuses and increase enrollment.
Following a financial analysis by Snow College, it was determined both programs could be integrated largely with the use of existing resources.
It is also believed that adding athletic programs to the Richfield campus will serve to create more general education opportunities. This will add to technical education classes currently offered at the campus.
The cross country programs will immediately start competition in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (Region 18).
For questions or additional information concerning the cross country programs, contact Snow athletic director/vice president for external affairs Rob Nielson or Snow athletic assistant Karen Johnson. For more information on the JV football program, contact Snow head football coach Zac Erekson.
