A Utah State inmate pleaded guilty in Sixth District Court in Manti on Wednesday to manslaughter in the death of a fellow inmate at the Central Utah Correctional Facility.  Cleo Cheney, 43, was incarcerated at the Gunnison prison with 62-year old Ted Davey.  Cheney had been in prison since 2018 on robbery and aggravated robbery convictions.  Davey was serving time for driving under the influence and was days from being paroled. A fight between Cheney and Davey took place on August 28, 2022, and Davey was found dead after the altercation.  Sanpete County Attorney Kevin Daniels asked for sentencing to be set in February so the victim’s family members could be present.  Judge Marvin Bagley set sentencing for Cheney on February 28.
