(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox wants schools to curb students’ cell phone usage. Cox sent a letter to educational leaders across Utah, including the State Board of Education, urging them to remove cell phones during class time. The governor called cell phones a distraction and said they should be kept in lockers or backpacks. Cox added that schools that have already moved forward with cell phone policies limiting student access, like Delta High School and Evergreen Junior High, have found that learning improves and student engagement increases.
