9 Nonprofits Partnering With LDS Church Sponsoring Giving Machines

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Nine nonprofits are partnering with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for this year’s Giving Machines campaign. They are Church World Service, Lifting Hands International, UNICEF, Make-A-Wish Utah, 5 for the Fight, National Ability Center, Green Urban Lunch Box, Joy of Hope, and Junior Achievement of Utah. The vending machines that allow people to make charitable donations of more than 12-hundred items went into service on Tuesday. There are two in Utah, at City Creek Center in Salt Lake City and University Place in Orem. There also are two in the Las Vegas area, at The District in Henderson and Downtown Summerlin. The Giving Machines have raised 22-million dollars from one-point-five million donors around the world in the past six years. The machines are in 61 cities in seven countries this year, more than twice as many as the 28 machines that raised about six-million dollars last year.
