ORDERVILLE, Utah-Cash Mortensen posted 21 points and the Kanab Cowboys pummeled Escalante 81-40 at the Valley Tournament Friday. Kendal Gardner led the Moquis in the loss with 21 points.
Hurricane Tournament
HURRICANE, Utah-Brace Brindley recorded 25 points on 7 3-pointers and the South Sevier Rams waxed Wayne 72-54 Friday at the Hurricane Tournament. Ammon Peterson had 16 points in the loss for the Badgers, who played their third game in as many days.
Non-Region
VERNAL, Utah-Miles Barnett netted 19 points and the Richfield Wildcats humbled Uintah 58-46 Friday in non-region boys basketball action. JJ Jenson led the Utes with 20 points in the loss.
PANGUITCH, Utah-Cache Eyre posted 17 points and 7 rebounds and the Panguitch Bobcats decimated Millard 66-27 Friday in non-region boys basketball play. Noah Rowell and Jenson Davies had 6 points apiece in the loss for the Eagles.
Girls Basketball
1A Preview @ SVC
RICHFIELD, Utah-AJ VanDyke’s 17 points and 8 rebounds led the way and the Wayne Badgers doubled up Tintic 54-27 Friday at the 1A girls basketball preview at the Sevier Valley Center. Alle Young’s 8 points led the Miners in the loss.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Tayleah Spaulding posted 19 points on 5-6 at the foul line and the Milford Tigers pounded Water Canyon 49-20 at the Sevier Valley Center Friday during the 1A girls basketball preview. Joann Barlow had 11 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Wildcats. Milford now leads Water Canyon 13-3 all-time in a series dating back to 2016.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Siciliy Fabrizio led the way with 21 points and 6 rebounds on 9-16 from the field and the Tabiona Tigers bested Escalante 51-40 during the 1A girls basketball preview at the Sevier Valley Center Friday. Mazee Dunton netted 18 points and 5 rebounds on 7-14 from the field for the Moquis in the loss.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Grace Leech posted 14 points and 4 rebounds on 5-10 from the field and the Bryce Valley Mustangs downed Monticello 43-26 Friday during the 1A girls basketball preview at the Sevier Valley Center.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Tabetha Henrie recorded 21 points and 14 rebounds on 10-18 from the field and the Panguitch Bobcats overpowered Whitehorse 54-32 during the 1A girls basketball preview Friday at the Sevier Valley Center. Harmony Thomas netted 10 points and 8 rebounds on 5-8 from the field in the loss for the Raiders.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Sadie Davis posted 13 points and 8 rebounds and Kallie Bair added 12 points and 12 boards as the Manila Mustangs beat Valley for the first time since 2007 with a 45-32 win over the Bufalos Friday at the 1A girls basketball preview at the Sevier Valley Center. Kimber Reeve had 15 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Valley.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Precious Bedonie’s 13 points and 10 rebounds led the way and the Monument Valley Cougars downed Piute 39-38 at the 1A girls basketball preview at the Sevier Valley Center Friday. Amy Morgan’s 12 points and 6 rebounds led the Thunderbirds in the loss.
Non-Region
MONROE, Utah-Sydnee Patterson and Kinley Jensen had 20 points apiece and the South Sevier Rams pounded Gunnison Valley 66-16 Friday in non-region girls basketball action. Rylee Bartholomew and Autumn Anderson had 5 points apiece for the Bulldogs in defeat.
MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Jaynee Tanner posted 18 points and 7 rebounds and the Class 5A Maple Mountain Golden Eagles routed North Sanpete 61-25 in non-region girls basketball play Friday. Sadie Job led the Hawks in the loss with 6 points.
