(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Senator Mike Lee is expressing concern over what he witnessed at the Mexican border. The Republican joined some of his colleagues for a trip to the border in Texas over the weekend, and noted his shock when he saw unaccompanied girls who traveled through Mexico alone. The Senators spent the night with the Border Patrol to see who was crossing the river. They were told by agents that it will take a policy change to stop a flood of illegal immigration. Lee was told by migrants that it costs thousands of dollars to be smuggled, and since many can’t pay up front, they have to work to pay cartels back.
