Slovis, Rising, Named To Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

Tuesday, BYU senior quarterback Kedon Slovis and Utah senior signal-caller Cameron Rising were named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List.

This award is annually presented to the top upperclassman quarterback in FBS college football.

Slovis is in his first season with the Cougars, and has completed 66 percent of his passes for 9,973 yards, 68 touchdowns and 33 interceptions in his career with USC and Pittsburgh.

Rising, throughout his college career (2020-present) has completed 64 percent of his passes for 5,572 yards, 46 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Slovis and his BYU teammates start the season September 2 by hosting FBS newcomer Sam Houston. Rising and his Utah teammates are 9 days away from hosting Florida at Rice-Eccles Stadium to start the college football season.

In other college football news Tuesday, BYU has named junior quarterback Jake Ratzlaff as Slovis’ backup. Ratzlaff comes to BYU from Riverside City College (Calif.) and is a native of Corona, Calif.
