CEDAR CITY, Utah-Tuesday, Southern Utah University athletics director Doug Knuth was appointed to the NCAA Division I Council.

The council consists of athletics directors, athletics administrators, senior women administrators, faculty athletics representatives and student-athletes.

Knuth begins his term August 1.

Knuth came to SUU in January 2023 after serving as the athletics director at the University of Nevada-Reno.

He owns degrees in business administration from Northwood University (Master’s), sport administration and facility management from Ohio University (Master’s) and business administration from Connecticut (bachelor’s), his alma mater.

Knuth has worked at various institutions in Division I, including Nevada, Utah, Michigan State, Ohio and UMASS as well as UCONN.
