TORONTO-Tuesday evening, former Southern Utah University defensive lineman Francis Bemiy was selected in the CFL Draft.

Bemiy, a native of Montréal, was taken No. 9 overall by the British Columbia Lions to conclude the first round.

Bemiy posted 3 sacks, 13 tackles for a loss and 7 quarterback hurries for the Thunderbirds last season.

Bemily leaves Cedar City with 13 career sacks, three forced fumbles and 163 net tackles.

Bemiy achieved third-team all-Big Sky honors for the Thunderbirds following the 2021 season.
