(Salt Lake City, UT) — School lunch debt is climbing across the Beehive State. Fox13 Now asked for the unpaid fees for meals in each of Utah’s 41 districts and got responses from nearly three dozen of them. The total debt for the 35 districts who responded was more than one-point-seven million dollars. The Granite School District had the highest number of unpaid fees at nearly 400-thousand dollars. The rising debt comes after a pandemic-era program providing free meals ended last year.
