1 Hiker Found Dead, 1 Rescued, 1 Missing In Slot Canyon

(Kane County, UT) — One hiker has been found dead, one has been rescued, and another is still missing in a Kane County slot canyon where floodwaters swept through. A helicopter crew lifted a man out of Buckskin Gulch, an hour east of Kanab on Monday and searched for two others until about 4 a.m. Tuesday. At 6:40 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced one hiker was found dead and the other is still missing. Buckskin Gulch is near the Utah-Arizona state line and is considered to be one of the most dangerous slot canyons in the U.S. with very few access or extraction points along its 20-mile route.
