Utah Senate Bill Would End Diversity Efforts In Higher Education

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill being heard in a Utah Senate committee today would end all racial diversity and equity efforts in Utah higher education. The bill from state Senator John Johnston would end all state funding for positions or departments that promote diversity, inclusion and equity at Utah’s public colleges and universities. Johnson tells that such diversity efforts can promote a political or social agenda rather than intellectual diversity and academic freedom. The bill will be discussed today by the Senate Taxation and Revenue Committee.
