(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox says states should be allowed to sponsor immigrants from other countries to fill essential jobs. Cox and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb co-authored an editorial in the Washington Post on Tuesday to lobby Congress for action on immigration visas. The two governors said allowing states to sponsor such visas would attract new residents and continue the tradition of letting immigrants find success by moving to the U.S. The governors also criticized the lack of congressional action, saying there needs to be a compromise that secures the border while creating a practical approach to immigration policy.
