(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill to allow pregnant women to drive in HOV lanes even if no one else is in their vehicle isn’t going anywhere. The Senate Transportation, Public Utilities, Energy, and Technology Committee rejected the measure in a 3-to-2 vote Monday morning. The House had approved the bill with strong bipartisan support on Friday. It would have allowed a pregnant woman to drive in the carpool lane by counting her unborn baby as a second person in the vehicle.
