(Salt Lake City, UT) — State lawmakers are making a big push to encourage water conservation and help restore and preserve the Great Salt Lake. Lawmakers have declared this week as “Water Week” in the House and the Senate and unveiled a series of bills yesterday. Proposals include forming a Great Salt Lake Authority to oversee statewide efforts to get more water into the lake. Other bills will focus on incentives to reduce landscaping water use, increasing the cost of excessive use of water and a new public service campaign stressing water conservation.
