(Salt Lake City, UT) — A controversial eduction bill is one step closer to becoming law. The Utah Senate has passed the Republican-led bill by a 20-to-eight vote yesterday. It would provide raises for Utah teachers and allow taxpayer funds to be spent on private and home schooling through a 42-million dollar voucher program. It’ll require one more Senate vote before heading to Governor Spencer Cox’ desk for a signature.
