(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah State Board of Education is holding a special meeting this morning to discuss a school voucher bill making its way through the state legislature. The early-morning meeting is expected to include a vote on whether to support House Bill 215 before it is heard in the Senate Education Committee later today. The bill would give Utah teachers a raise, but would also create a 42-million-dollar voucher program that could be used to pay for private school tuition and homeschooling. The Utah House of Representatives passed the bill late last week, sending it to the Senate for consideration.
