(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah lawmakers will consider more than just tax cuts and spending proposals during the upcoming session of the state legislature. State lawmakers file hundreds of bills for consideration each year on a variety of topics. Among the bills that will be considered this year is one that would name the brine shrimp as Utah’s official state crustacean. It failed last year. A Senate bill that will be considered wants to establish a Great Salt Lake license plate, with money raised through sales going to wetland and watershed protection efforts. The legislature will gavel into session next week.
