Stewart Co-Sponsors Bill To Criminalize Online Suicide Assistance

(Washington, DC) — Congressman Chris Stewart is part of a bipartisan group trying to shut down online forums that help people commit suicide. The Utah Republican is working with other lawmakers to pass a bill that would make it a felony to assist in someone else’s suicide attempt through an online forum. He says the bill would give the Department of Justice the authority it needs to pursue cases against those forums. Stewart says the bill is a great example of a bipartisan effort seeking to address a mental health problem that is not getting enough attention.
